From Football Professionals, Parents & Players
TY Sports Academy boys participated in four UK Football Tours with George Cowie. It is a unique opportunity to experience top class world football and will help them to develop as players. I highly recommend this tour to any young football player.
Tae Young Shin – Former Korea National Coach
(3 x Korean Football Player of the Year)
George Cowie is very well respected in Scottish Football and the clubs know he will bring well organised teams. These games gives us an opportunity to look at players we would not normally see.
Craig Levein – Director of Football at Hearts, Former Scotland National Coach
It is always a pleasure to welcome George’s groups. I am always pleased to welcome George’s group and to put on a coaching session.
David Kelly – First Team Coach at Nottingham Forest, Derby County, Sheffield Utd, Preston, Tranmere and Scunthorpe Utd
I am happy to be able to assist by arranging games in Scotland and have been very impressed with the standard over the last few years. I am always looking for good young players.
Gary Mackay – FIFA Players Agent (Played a record of 735 game for Hearts)
I think that it is marvellous that George Cowie’s tours give young people the opportunity to develop both as players and people. George maximizes on every chance to give his groups the best experiences possible.
Bill Beswick – England National teams, Manchester Utd, Derby, Sunderland, Newcastle & Middlesborough
From a schools perspective, it was important that we had competitive games, educational aspects and the ‘UK Football Experience’. George understood our needs and got the balance spot on. Thanks George for and amazing tour.
Dean Simpkins – Skill Acquisition Coach, FFA
Our players want to reach the top. Overseas tours and games v Premier League Youth teams, watching the best players in action, coaching sessions at clubs and stadium tours are all part of the experience for our players to “live the dream”. We can’t thank you enough.
Wynton Rufer – Top Scorer in Champions League 1993
I was able to join a football tour to England and Scotland with my son Rowan, hosted by George Cowie. I have to say it is one of the best experiences of my life. The quality of the opposition and standard of coaching was first class. Importantly though, the friendliness of George and his manager, the goodwill and camaraderie made this an unforgettable trip which I was able to share with my son.
Paul McNamee – Wimbledon Champion & Former President Australian Tennis
To attend the National Camp and work with so many experienced coaches from professional football was overwhelming. Then to back it up and go to the UK was unbelievable. The first EPL game we attended was Manchester United v West Ham United with a crowd of 76000. I was coaching against West Ham United and Liverpool Academies, and had excellent coaching sessions with Wolves Academy, West Ham Academy, Hugh McAuley (former Assistant Director of Liverpool Academy) and Arsenal Scout, George Mackie. A totally amazing experience for all the boys and myself.
Rick Wilson, Director of Coaching, Collingwood FC
I have taken my time to put thought into saying thank you. The trip was everything we could have hoped for and more. Thank you for the laughs, your generosity, your kindness and your expertise. It amazes me how you pack so much goodness and value into the tours. I know you are mindful, and you strive to ensure all have a great experience. I notice, and I appreciate it. We all thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you and the coaches more and I am sure I am not just speaking for myself but for Barry and Liam too that we have so much respect for you and all the Coaches. The wealth of knowledge and experience is such a gift for Liam to be exposed to and I know he has grown as a person and a player because of it. I can see how much Liam gains and grows from each National Camp and Tours and as a mum I want to nurture and support him to follow his heart and stay true to himself. The kindness and generosity you showed with thinking of Liam with the West Ham keeper jersey, signing Liam’s Hearts jersey and the gift of the pennant and signed Rangers ball will always stay with us. I am blown away and my heart is fuller that I have no words to express how much it means. Barry and I would not hesitate in being part of future tours even if it was Liam with one of us or on his own. It is an investment and it is a testament as to how much we enjoy the experience and how much we know that Liam learns from the experience. As we talked while on tour, should you come across any information or opportunity that may be suitable for Liam in his growth then we are serious about supporting him for opportunities that can mentor him further. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. Enjoy the festive season and we look forward to seeing you again in 2019. Julie Michels, Parent

Wanted to say a huge thank you from Scott (and me) for a brilliant experience in the UK. Scott has come back even more enthusiastic about his football and determined to practice, practice! The tour gave our young players the opportunity to experience English football first hand. They learnt from world class coaches, played teams from English Premier academies and watched EPL and UEFA games. The tour was well run and the experience left players even more inspired to play football!

Life has now resumed and before time gets away, I just wanted to send you a note to say thank you very much for having Mason and I on the UK tour. It was a fantastic experience for both of us. We have taken away many great memories and for Mason also a vision of a potential future. I thought the tour was done very professionally, and the effort to manage a group of that size and dynamic, and to achieve so many destinations and highlights in a short period of time was brilliant. I would highly recommend you and the GIS tours in the future to anyone interested. I hope all goes well for your future endeavours and we cross paths again.

A huge THANK YOU again for taking Jayden Emery on the Tour. This was an unforgettable experience for our son. When I asked Jayden to pick what his favourite part of the Tour he couldn’t pick. (Although he does speak often about the goal he scored against West Ham.) There were far too many memorable moments to pick a favourite. Soccer is not just a sport for Jayden. The experience has only increased his passion for soccer and a few extra skills I noticed. I would recommend this experience to anyone who has a child with a passion for soccer. My son lived a soccer dream while away.

The West Ham Academy Tour was an excellent way to expand Connors experience and confidence in the broader world of Football. The games, workshops and group experiences gave Connor the confidence and direction he needed to return and explore future directions in NPL involvement. The tour gave him a wide range of high quality coaching and playing experiences that he successfully applied on his return. This was a life changing experience that will stay with Connor forever.

This may be the biggest THANK YOU I have ever said, but from the bottom of my heart, ‘Thank You’ for giving Phoenix this opportunity. It was simply amazing from all accounts. He has certainly been stretched in many ways – all very positive ways! Phoenix has rated everybody and everything 10 out of 10 and I think he really wears his heart on his sleeve so this is my best gauge. Please pass on this message to Rick also and thank him for being an awesome coach.

Thank you so much for helping make our trip to the UK a lifelong memory. Luca & I enjoyed the training, coaching, stadium tours & the Premier League games very much. We were so lucky to be able to take part and experience things in football that most English junior footballers only dream of. Thank you for organising the day to-day things like, lunch, trying to get into London when the marathon was on, the accommodation and whatever else arose that we didn’t see, even when you were crook. Brad, Antony & Neil were awesome and great role models for the boys and I know that Luca really looked up to them and learnt a lot. Could you please pass on our gratitude to them? Luca & Neil had a couple of conversations about some how he could position himself better on the pitch and I saw an instant change in Luca’s awareness. Luca & I spent an extra week sightseeing in Londan, took the Euro train to Paris & we attended two more games. Arsenal vs Bodo Glimpt (Euro League) & Arsenal Vs Liverpool. I have never experienced crowd noise like I did during that game before, it was unbelievable. Luca even got his face on AFTV (Arsenal Football TV) YouTube site. They are a group of guys that review the games with the fans after a match with 1.5 million subscribers. Thank you again. Hope to see you again at some point.

On the behalf of myself and Robert, I would like to thank you for the incredible experience and opportunities Robert had attending National Camp & UK Tour. Thank you for taking Tamika & myself on the UK trip. I cannot image the time and effort that goes into planning a trip like this. I am very grateful for every part of the trip, truly amazing. Tamika and I have come away with so many life long memories. You accommodated Tamika into the boys program so well. We were there for her and her football and you took us beyond any expectations that we had. I cannot thank you enough. I would like to stay in touch along the way as Tamika continues on her journey with her love for football. Thank you once again George, we will never forget the UK trip or what you have done for us.

Now that we are all back home I wish to thank you immensely for the most amazing time away. We are all still on a high from the most spectacular experience we had whilst on this once in a lifetime trip. Every aspect was truly amazing from the great hotels you arranged, the ground transport and meals. To the exciting games we saw and the amazing atmosphere we all experienced sitting in those grandstands at each and every one of the games we went to. The skill and speed of the players on the field, the crowds and the whole experience was one we will never forget and hope to one day replicate it all again. All the time and effort you poured into this to make it one exceptional journey did not go unnoticed.

My family and I went on Georges Cowie’s UK tour, my wife Dawn, daughter Brittney (12) and 2 sons Jake (15) and Bryce (14). This football tour had everything for all members of my family. Brittney had a great time and was never left out of anything. Dawn had a blast of a time with both the football and tourist sight seeing mixed with a little bit of shopping. Jake and Bryce had incredible tour training, playing and watching world-class football. This tour really inspired both my sons and gave them a great insight to what being a top line pro footballer takes. Actually training on the same pitch as the first team at Nottingham Forest was something special, this is something only that someone with George’s contacts can provide. As for coaches, players and myself a confessed football nut this tour was football heaven.

Having just come back in January from an England / Scotland football trip in which both of my boys played, I can assure you that George Cowie puts on a trip to remember. We have all been to many conferences and tours that most often don’t live up to the promises made. George goes the extra mile and makes sure that the value is absolutely there for the traveller. His personal contacts in Football clubs throughout the UK, is truly amazing and their wish to please George and his Tours is nothing short of sensational. I can guarantee you that George’s Football trips live up to and beyond expectations and are one not to be missed, My good wife Janet, myself and the two boys had a trip of a lifetime and I can assure you there is not a week goes by that tour memories are not recalled and rekindled. So if you are thinking about going – Do it!

We went on George Cowie’s UK Football Tour. We had the best family holiday. The player football experience my son had was second to none. From playing against top English and Scottish Academies to being coached by ex English and Irish internationals. As well as an inspirational talk from Bill Beswick. What an interesting man. He is a psychologist who has worked with so many big name players. George is so well respected that everywhere we went everyone welcomed us. I being a football mum enjoyed the tour. Everywhere we stayed was central so I could have a bit of retail therapy. My husband and son thought they were in football heaven. I’ll never forget their faces when we walked into Old Trafford. It was a holiday we will never forget. George has everything so well organized.

Any football fans prime holy grail should be to see the English and Scottish Premier League at some point in life, To see the stadiums of the greats, Manchester Utd, Liverpool, and many of the chasing pack, Birmingham, Bolton, Nottingham Forest, and to follow up to some heartland of greats such as Rangers and Hearts, The history of these league’s, going back to the birth of football, are a spine tingling experience. To this add the expert training of these clubs academy coaches, and then to play against the future stars of these leagues and club’s academy sides. Then add the quality accommodation, coach travel, comradely of a team and teammates and bring together this whole experience, and return to Australia to add this to your personal game. There really is no other tour to think about, George puts so much into this, and you, the player, takes it away, add to this the coaching from George that is simply Queensland’s best value. As a father of a tour player, my son and I will never get that time again, and will never forget the experience. Grab the chance in life with both hands; this is certainly one of those Experiences.
Nick Milton, Parent
The knowledge passed on from such a high calibre of coaches and the overall experience is something never to be forgotten.

It was an amazing experience v English clubs, watching EPL matches, meeting new friends and working with amazing coaches from Liverpool and Arsenal. Best experience ever, would go love to go back on this tour.
Timothy Coombe, Player
All of the places were extraordinary but for me the best experiences would have to be the training with West Ham Academy coaches and the Liverpool experience. I experienced one of the best training sessions of my life. This tour will always stay with me and has been one of the best learning experience of my lifetime and I hope I can do all of this again.
Robert Tkatchenko, Player
Great experience, had loads of fun and learnt a lot. Recommend it for any footballer because of the great football coaching the tour provides and the amazing opportunity you have to go over to the UK.

As part of the West Ham United Foundation’s international programme delivery, George Cowie Football were invited to east London from Australia to experience the Foundation’s football development pathways.
As part of the Foundation’s wider international partnerships which uses the global appeal of Premier League football to engage and inspire communities, young footballers from regional and national camps in Australia led by Foundation coaching staff were selected to visit the UK and experience life as Academy players.
“Our international partnerships look to provide young people from around the world the opportunity to experience our football development pathways,” explained Foundation Director of Programmes Bryan Glover.
“Being able to provide these opportunities for boys and girls is something I’m very passionate about, especially with the Women’s World Cup coming to Australia and New Zealand this year.”
